Cyprus trade deficit widens in July

The trade deficit widened in July, according to preliminary estimates, reaching a provisional EUR 400,510, compared with EUR 394,494 in June 2009.
In January-July, the trade deficit was a provisional EUR 2.98 bln in January-July 2010 compared with EUR 2.72 bln in the same period of 2009.
Total imports/ arrivals in July reached EUR 501.0 mln, of which EUR 341.3 mln were arrivals from other member states of EU and EUR 159.7 mln imports from third countries.
Total exports/dispatches amounted to EUR 100.5 mln, of which EUR 63.9 mln were dispatches to other member states of the EU and EUR 36.6 mln exports to third countries.
Revised figures for June show that the trade deficit reached EUR 2,577.6 mln in January-June 2010 compared with EUR 3,316.0 mln in the corresponding period of 2009.
Total imports/arrivals in January-June 2010 amounted to EUR 3,115.9 mln compared with EUR 2,803.3 mln in January-June 2009.
Total exports/dispatches in January-June 2010 reached EUR 538.2 mln compared with EUR 487.3 mln in January-June 2009.
Total imports comprise imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU member states, while total exports comprise exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states.
In June alone total imports/arrivals were valued at EUR 569.5 mln.
Total exports/dispatches in June 2010 amounted to EUR 51.6 mln.
Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods reached EUR 48.0 mln whilst exports/dispatches of foreign goods reached EUR mln.
