Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Kyprianou departs for Denmark on Tuesday where the trio presidency of the European Union, Poland, Denmark and Cyprus, for the second half of 2011 and the whole of 2012, will convene on Wednesday.

An official statement said that during meeting, issues that concern preparations for the assumption of the six-monthly rotating presidency will be examined, as well as the effects of the implementation of the Lisbon Convention on the presidency’s role.

There will also be an exchange of views on developments regarding European neighbouring policy.

Cyprus joined the EU in May 2004. This will be the first time Nicosia will hold the six-monthly rotating presidency.
