Cyprus retail trade returns to growth in March

Retail trade volume returned to growth in March, according to preliminary figures from the Statistical Service.
The provisional turnover volume index of retail trade for March 2010 inched up by 0.3% over the year earlier, having declined by 5.4% in February.
Compared with the previous month, the index increased by 19.0%.
For the period January-February 2010 the index recorded a decrease of 5.9% compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
Meanwhile, retail trade value is provisionally estimated to have increased by 0.3% over the year earlier in the first quarter.
According to revised figures for the first two months, the value index recorded a decrease of 5.7% compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
