Cyprus retail trade still down y/y in Feb

Retail trade in Cyprus was still down over the year earlier in February, according to preliminary figures from the Statistical Service.
The turnover volume index of retail trade (except automotive fuel) is provisionally estimated to have fallen by 6.1% year on year in February.
In January 2010 final data show That the volume index fell by 5.8% year on year or by 31.2% compared with December 2009.
For the period January-February 2010, the volume index is provisionally estimated to have decreased 5.9% compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
The main decreases were recorded in the categories of computer equipment and books (down 16.9%), and electrical goods and furniture (down 11.3%).
Meanwhile, the value of retail trade is provisionally estimated to have decreased by 5.6% in the first two months of the year when compared with the first two months of 2009.
