GRS database reaches 20,000

Research from Cyprus-based Global Recruitment Solutions, the largest consultancy of its kind on the island, shows how the power of the Internet is changing the face of the job market, attracting some of the best national and international talent.
With nearly half of the Cyprus population now logging on to the Internet and 1.6 bln users across the world, GRS has found that more than 90% of its applicants now prefer to respond to online job adverts, choosing the speed, ease and geographic flexibility that the Internet offers.
The recently relaunched website, www.grsrecruitment.com, reflects these demands, said Managing Director Steve Slocombe.
“Cyprus is becoming a global hub for business and the job market is really beginning to reflect this. Our own website traffic supports these findings, with 45% of visits coming from outside of Cyprus,” Slocombe said, adding that “while just over 60% of our registered employees are of Cypriot nationality, the rest come from a whole range of countries, including Russia and the UK. This increasingly diverse workforce reflects the large volumes of international business that passes through Cyprus, where the relatively modest size of the local population has often meant that there is a skills shortage in finding the best candidates for certain sectors.”
GRS offers recruitment and tailored services for clients and candidates across Cyprus and the rest of Europe, the Channel Islands, MEA, Russia and CIS, Bermuda and the Caribbean, with a database of 20,000 from entry and newly qualified levels to middle management/senior executive, director/partner levels in a broad range of sectors and disciplines.

RECRUITMENT RISING

GRS has seen an increase in permanent recruitment of 30% in 2010, defying the global economic downturn.
“Compared to countries like the UK, Cyprus is doing comparatively well due to the fact that previously registered companies still require administration and auditing services to comply with the statutory regulations of the Cyprus Registrar of Companies,” Slocombe explained. “This still continues to generate a large requirement for occupations such as accountants, lawyers, bookkeepers and administrators in the corporate services and audit professions. Two-thirds of our candidates are degree or masters-qualified and over half have more than five years work experience in their field.”
The new GRS website has a unique search facility enabling candidates to look for positions within specific job sectors and locations. Most visitors are logging on while still at work, a far cry from the days of getting home and sifting though endless hard copies of job ads.
“Matching the perfect candidate to the perfect job is as simple, quick and easy as ever. It's no surprise that permanent recruitment is on the rise. Simply put, the Cyprus job market has never had it so good when it comes to accurately placing top candidates into the best jobs and saving businesses time and money in the process,” Slocombe added.
The four best reasons why a business should be using a recruitment agency, according to GRS, are:
Specialisation – Many businesses have specific requirements for their potential candidates, even for entry-level positions. GRS can draw upon lists of qualified candidates for a variety of specialisations and is more likely to get the right candidate the first time round and avoid the costly process of recruiting a second time.
Speed and flexibility – Businesses often turn to GRS to fill temporary jobs, from short-term contract work to maternity cover and interim management.
Cost-savings – GRS can offer a tailored service that fits your available budget to save time and money.
Expertise – GRS recruits locally and nationally drawing upon a wealth of experience and professional knowledge of labour markets for different sectors of work, and provide constructive advice on how to best tailor a vacancy to make it appealing.
