Wall Street boosted by earnings and data

Stocks rose 1 percent in morning trading on Tuesday as regional manufacturing data and solid corporate earnings fueled investor optimism.

Oil and basic materials company shares gave the biggest boost to the S&P 500 index, as the U.S. dollar fell against the euro and helped boost commodity prices.

The Dow Jones industrial average (.DJI) gained 104.15 points, or 1.03 percent, to 10,203.29. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (.SPX) rose 12.58 points, or 1.17 percent, to 1,088.09. The Nasdaq Composite Index (.IXIC) added 21.74 points, or 1.00 percent, to 2,205.27.
