Cyprus Gourmet and wine: The shape of things to come

If you consider any three award-winning winemakers, each one a powerful individualist, you could be forgiven to think they would be unlikely to work together. But Costas Tsiakkas (pictured, left), Sophocles Vlassides (centre) and Pambos Argyrides, whose experiences are very different, do. They collaborate in the vineyard and the winery, exchanging knowledge, know-how and ideas, to the benefit of all their wines. They use the services of international oenologists. Every aspect of vines and wine from terroir to bottling is in their purview.
But since January 2008 they have done much more than this. With sales specialists Sotiris Parmatzias and Haris Charalambous, they set up Oinous Ltd. to distribute and promote their wines. A high quality network of retail outlets and excellent hotel and restaurant representation are the results.
Last week I met the “Three Muscat-eers” in Vasa to discuss something new: a special offer for Cyprus Gourmet readers of a 12-bottle tasting case, containing two each of six of their wines, exclusively for our readers. We all tasted and selected two whites, a rosé and three reds. You will be able to buy them, at an advantageous price, on-line to be delivered to your door through Cyprus Gourmet Magazine. The case will come with full notes of the grapes, the vineyards, and the making of the wines, with detailed tasting notes, wine matches and recipes.
On-line soon, too, you will be able to buy books, magazines subscriptions and other food and wine offers. Watch this space!
