Doha comes to Nicosia for Qatar’s National Day

One of the pavilions at the Cyprus International Fair is to be transformed into a miniature of the city of Doha this weekend, as Qatari officials mark their national day and introduce their culture to the Cypriot public in an effort to revive interest in investments in both countries.
Visitors will be able to explore the rich culture of Qatar, taste local delicacies and enjoy traditional music and dance, with a 120-strong delegation revealing the popular traditional Henna procedure with rich colour and designs, while there will be a gallery of photographs and portraits by Qatar artists.
Doha, has been marked as the megalopolis of the future, and is growing into a cultural and tourist focal point. Nevertheless, while the city is growing ever more modern, Qatar is keen to see that it sacrifices none of its “body” or “soul”, as visitors to this two day event will see for themselves. The event will be open on Friday, from 1 to 10pm and on Saturday from 10am to 10pm. at Pavilion No.7. Admission is free.
A number of official guests from Qatar will also be in Cyprus on the National Day on Friday and will attend a reception that will be hosted by the Ambassador of Qatar, Mubarak A AL Naseer, where representatives of the Cyprus government, as well as prominent members of the business community will also be attending.
Qatar, that is fast becoming the leading player in the global LNG natural gas supply market, had shown interest to invest in Cyprus, with President Christofias and other government officials visiting the Gulf state in recent months.
