Cyprus tourism decline moderates in November

The decline in tourism arrivals moderated in November, as arrivals fell by 8.4% over the year earlier, compared with a drop of 14.0% in October.
The total number of tourists reached 89,670 in November 2009, compared with 97,900 in November 2008.
Tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom fell by 11.7% to 36,187 in November 2009 from 40,969 in November 2008.
Arrivals from Germany dropped by 12.1% to 13,535 compared with 15,403 last year.
On a more positive note, arrivals from Greece rose by 24.0% to 10,317, from 8,317 in November 2008.
For the period January – November 2009 arrivals of tourists fell by 11.0% to 2,074,992 compared with 2,331,622 in the corresponding period of 2008.
