APOEL FC of Nicosia accomplished a historic 2-2 draw with Chelsea FC on Tuesday, in a match for the Champions League group stage.

The match for Group D day 6 was held in Stamford Bridge in London.

APOEL scored the game's first goal six minutes into the match. Constantinos Charalambides attacking down the left cut the ball across to Marcin Zewlakow, who from the penalty area was calm and scored.

Chelsea responded to the goal with a period of attacking pressure. The pressure paid off for the British team as they equalised in the 19th minute with Michael Essien. Seven minutes later, Didier Drogba scored again for Chelsea.

Chelsea looked comfortable in the second half but Nenad Mirosavljevic equalised in the 87th minute. Obi Mikel made a mistake in midfield to present Mirosavljevic with the ball. The Serbian drove at the heart of the Chelsea defence and scored.

During the last minutes of the match, APOEL could not find the winner they needed to claim third place in the group and enter the Europa League.

This was the third draw of APOEL in the Champions League group stage and the most impressive as it has been successful playing against one of the best teams in Europe.
