Commission announces energy campaign for Turkish Cypriots

The European Commission has announced the conclusion of a EUR200,000 contract with COWI BELGIUM SPRL to run an energy efficiency awareness campaign for the Turkish Cypriot community.
The project is financed from the EUR259 mln EU aid programme for the Turkish Cypriot community. The programme is managed by the European Commission, DG Enlargement, Task Force Turkish Cypriot community.
The campaign will raise awareness of policy makers and the public about the wasteful use of energy, energy saving equipment, energy alternatives. It will also promote the construction industry’s awareness of energy efficient methods in construction and the use of energy in buildings, so as to build energy efficient homes and commercial buildings;
This EU-funded public awareness campaign will promote best practice appropriate for the climate of Cyprus. To this end, there will be three workshops for NGOs, professionals and municipalities. Meanwhile, two information brochures have been prepared for energy consumers full of practical advice on how to live more comfortably, save electricity and save money.
In addition to the leaflets, the project has developed a bi-lingual website in English and Turkish language that includes the information of the leaflets, but in much more detail and also a lot more.
