The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce are implementing a UNDP-ACT funded project entitled “Economic Interdependence” that aims to promote economic interdependence between the Greek-Cypriot and the Turkish-Cypriot communities enabling the two business communities to enhance their business and economical relations.
The “Economic Interdependence” project commenced in April 2009 and will end in July 2011. The project will involve research into the current state of economic interdependence on the island, as well as develop ideas and activities for further economic cooperation and convergence. In this direction there will be bi-communal business meetings, grant schemes for the establishment of joint partnerships between the two communities, joint Chamber events for informing interested parties on the Green Line Trade, business language courses as well as the compilation of a business directory.
The business directory will gather the contact details of businesses in both communities interested to cooperate with their counterparts in the other community. For this reason, all those interested to buy, sell and/or form another kind of business partnership with a business in the Turkish-Cypriot community are requested to provide their relevant interest and company details.
The Chamber reminds that only products wholly obtained in Cyprus or that have undergone their last, substantial, economically justified processing or working in Cyprus can be traded across the Green Line, and that the movement of live animals and animal products across the line is prohibited (with the exceptions of fresh fish and honey). For more information on the Green Line Trade contact Theodoros Andersson at the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), tel. 22889706, e-mail: [email protected].
All interested parties must complete and submit their interest form to the CCCI, c/o Mrs Lia Riris, fax. 22668630, e-mail: [email protected], by 30 October 2009 at the very latest.
