LDK awarded environmental contracts in Cyprus

LDK Consultants was recently assigned, following international tendering procedures, two important environmental projects in Cyprus and in the south-eastern Mediterranean countries.
In particular, the Solid Waste Management Department of the Ministry of Interior of Cyprus appointed the joint venture of Athens-based LDK Consultants, Ecorem NV and Atlantis Consulting Cyprus with the provision of technical support for the rehabilitation and after-use of the dumpsites in the region of Paphos.
The project, to be completed by 2012, has a total budget of 440,000 euros and includes the elaboration of feasibility studies, environmental impact assessment studies, preliminary and final design and, as well as tender documents, bid evaluation and technical supervision of project works.
Furthermore, a four-year contract was awarded to the consortium of LDK Consultants, WS Atkins and Pescares, led by WS Atkins, following a European Investment Bank (EIB) international tender, with a total budget of 6,197,800 euros. The Mediterranean Hot Spot Investment Programme – Project Preparation and Implementation Facility (MeHSIP-PPIF) through coordination and liaison with IFIs, BFIs, national funding agencies and stakeholders, focuses on the development of a pipeline of projects in the fields of industrial emissions, municipal waste and wastewater, thus contributing towards achieving the Horizon 2020 goal of de-polluting the Mediterranean Sea by the year 2020. The countries targeted for investments are the Southern Mediterranean Partners that are covered by the European Neighbourhood Policy.
