The Norwegian Star, bought from Star Cruises a year ago for EUR 103 mln, will end its charter to the Norwegian Cruise Lines in October and will be refitted in time to start a new schedule as the “Louis Majesty” on December 4.
Currently operating in the Caribbean, the Louis Majesty will take over the Coral’s itinerary from Genoa to Marseilles until January 3, 2010, after which it will continue embarking from the same ports to destinations in the Mediterranean, Canary Islands and North Africa.
The Majesty was built in Finland 1992 and refurbished and extended by 34 metres in 1999 to 207 metres at a cost of USD 53.3 mln. It has 730 cabins and suites and can take up to 1,790 passengers. Public services areas include six restaurants, nine bars, ‘The Palace’ show centre, the ‘Monte Carlo’ casino, and the ‘Observatory’ panoramic bar. Other facilities include a library, Internet corner and children’s play area, two pools and a paddling pool, three Jacuzzis, a health and beauty salon, gym and sauna.
The ship maintains the Louis Cruise tradition of employing Greek officers and highly trained international crew.
The Majesty is the 12th ship in the Louis fleet, of which three are chartered to Thomson Cruises of the TUI Group. Four cruise ships operate out of Piraeus, two from Genoa/Marseilles and two from Limassol.
Last year, Louise Cruise also retired two lower-capacity ships, the loyal Princesa Marissa and the Serenade, as part of a fleet renewal programme.
