Cyprus President Christofias pledges support for Institute of Neurology and Genetics

President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias said that the government may soon make announcements concerning assistance to the Institute of Neurology and Genetics.
Speaking after a visit to the Institute, President Christofias praised the importance of the Institute for the people of Cyprus and its work and role as a research and medical services centre in the region and Europe in general.
He noted that the achievements of the Institute as a research centre have made their mark in the EU and the broader region.
President Christofias discussed various issues with the Institute's board of directors, including the development policy, budgets and government assistance, and expressed certainty that ''after a study by the management of the Institute and the Ministry of Health, we may be able to make specific announcements concerning government aid for the Institute.''
Regarding the Anthropological Laboratory, which is situated in the premises of the Institute and is dealing with the identification of remains of missing persons in Cyprus, President Christofias said more results were expected concerning missing persons and that the process was arduous.
