Cyprus secures three more medals in Mediterranean Games

Cyprus secured Wednesday a total of three more medals, two gold medals and one bronze, in the XVI Mediterranean Games, currently taking place in Pescara, Italy.

Cypriot champion Kyriacos Ioannou won the gold medal in men's high jump with 2.30, while Cypriot athlete Anastasia Christoforou secured the gold medal in the women's 50m breaststroke.

Christoforou became the first Cypriot swimmer to win a gold medal in Mediterranean Games with a time of 31.12 establishing at the same time a new Games record.

Meanwhile, Eleni Artymata shared the bronze medal in the women's 100 m with the French athlete with a time of 11.55.

Cyprus ranks 10 in the medals table of the XVI Mediterranean Games with a total of 7 medals, namely 3 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal.

Italy is in the first place with a total of 111 medals, France in second place with 80 medals and Turkey in third place with 44 medals.
