Leon beer, brewed and bottled by Photos Photiades Breweries, continues to gain popularity among locals and tourists as it saw sales rise to 5 mln bottles last year, or 1.65 mln litres, representing a market share of 4.1% among the local beers, dominated by arch-rivals Carlsberg and Keo.
With its claim-to-fame being that it is the oldest brew in Cyprus since 1937, Leon sales are expected to exceed last year’s levels and possibly reach a new record in 2009. A company announcement said this confidence is based on healthy sales reported in the first four months of this year.
