New pavements for 100 roads in Nicosia

Nearly 100 roads in Nicosia will get new pavements, new drainage and a fresh layer of asphalt in a € 32 mln project that will see work starting in March 2010.
Nicosia Mayor Eleni Mavrou signed the surveying contract that was awarded to the architectural firm of AF Modinos & SA Vrahimis. The study will take a year to complete, followed by three years for the road works and a final year for faults and repairs.
Saverios Vrahimis said that work will get underway at two or three locations simultaneously, to ensure that the project is not delayed.
Once this project is completed, the Nicosia Municipality plans to embark on a second wave of pavement building that is expected to see improvement works on 80 more roads in the capital.
