KPMG has launched a new service called KPMG Academy as part of the firm’s strategy for social responsibility with a goal to turn knowledge into value.
Andreas Christofides, Managing Director of KPMG Limited, said at a press briefing about the new venture that the KPMG Academy aims to combine professional and academic expertise in order to deliver specialised training programmes to companies and the general public.
Commenting on the world economic crisis that may soon impact Cyprus, Christofides referred to the preventive measures KPMG is taking in order to substantially reduce possible adverse consequences.
“Effective staff training through the KPMG Academy will enhance business productivity; this being an important element for dealing with the financial crisis,” he said.
Christofides also mentioned the recent “Exports Award 2007” awarded to KPMG by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism in collaboration with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Christos Vasiliou, KPMG Ltd. board member and Head of the Academy, presented the core team members and talked about the strategy of the Academy, the goals set and the various categories of seminars that are offered. The topics will be announced every six months while specialised seminars will be planned on demand.
Constantinos Kounnis, Manager of the Academy, briefly outlined the programs which will be delivered in the first sixth months of the year.
