The Pafos Aphrodite Festival will present in early September Leo Delibes’ opera “Lakme”, at Pafos Medieval Castle, performed by the National Opera of Sofia.

According to an announcement, “Lakme” opera, in three acts, is considered as one of the most exotic operas with a sensational prelude.

The opera was first performed on 14 April, 1883 at the Opera Comique in Paris.

The French libretto written by Edmond Gondinet and Philippe Gille is based on the 1880 novel ''Rarahu ou Le Mariage de Loti'' by Pierre Loti.

Arias like “The Flower Duet” and “Bell Song” will be presented.

Performances will take place on 4,5 and 6 September.
