Garoyian declared Cyprus DIKO President

Marios Garoyian was officially declared President of the Democratic Party (DIKO) at the Pancyprian Electoral Congress of the party that took place in Nicosia. Garoyian, who has been President of DIKO since 2006, was re-elected unopposed for a further four-year term.
The Electoral Congress of the Democratic Party (DIKO) was concluded Sunday.
Giorgos Kolokasides was re-elected Deputy President receiving 59% of the vote, while his rival, Antigoni Papadopoulou, received 41%.
“What counts now is the unity of the party, which is a high priority for all of us”, Kolokasides told reporters.
Nikolas Papadopoulos was elected new DIKO Vice President, receiving 56%, compared to 43% which his main opponent Angelos Votsis received and 1% which Constantinos Panayi got.
In his statements, Papadopoulos said that a new day begins for DIKO, expressing the conviction that all party members would support the party and its leader.
Kyriakos Kenevezos was re-elected DIKO General Secretary receiving 57% of the vote, compared to 43% received by his rival Athina Kyriakidou.
Kenevezos talked about “a strong and united party”, saying that “there are no losers and no winners, the party belongs to everybody”.
DIKO MP Phytos Constantinou was re-elected unopposed General Organiser.
