GSSE Technical Committee President visits Cyprus

George Diderich, President of the Technical Committee of the 2009 Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) is on a visit to Cyprus to assess the progress so far in the preparations for the 2009 GSSE, to be hosted from June 1 to June 9.

A press release issued by the Cyprus Olympic Committee (COE) notes that Diderich will stay on the island for two days and will have the opportunity to meet the new COE leadership, including its President Ouranios Ioannides and members of the Executive Committee, as well as with Olga Piperidou, Coordinator of the 2009 GSSE.

Diderich will visit the Limassol swimming pool, the venue for the aquatic events of XIII GSSE, as well as hotels which will host foreign delegations. Furthermore a series of technical issues will be discussed as well as the preparation of the meeting of the heads of the delegations of each country to compete in the 2009 GSSE, to be held in late April.

Meanwhile, COE announced that President of the Turkish Olympic Committee Togay Bayatli, has accepted an invitation extended to him by his Cypriot counterpart Ouranios Ioannides to attend the 2009 GSSE.
