Construction prices rise by 11.6% in 2008

Construction materials prices rose by 11.6% in 2008, although they declined towards the end of the year, falling by 4.03% over the previous month in December.
The Statistical Service reported that rise in 2008 was mainly owing to price increases of the following materials.
* Round bars of iron of EU origin: 32.49%
* Bituminous mixtures (Bitumen Asphalt): 26.85%
* Iron metallurgy products: 22.38%
* Premix: 18.71%
* Gravel and sand aggregate: 13.98%
* Crushed gravel: 13.27%
* Crushed sand: 13.03%
* Bricks: 11.65%
* Wooden doors and cupboards: 8.83%

A decrease of 1.59% was recorded for porcelain ceramic tiles and of 1.1% for air conditioning appliances.
