National Bank of Greece Q3 at EUR400 mln, beats forecasts

National Bank of Greece, the country's largest lender, said third-quarter net profit was unchanged from the previous two quarters at EUR400 mln, above market expectations. 

Analysts in a recent Reuters poll were expecting net third-quarter earnings of EUR379.6 mln, on average, with estimates ranging from 372 to 390 million euros.
The group, present in Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Albania, Cyprus and Egypt, reported 9-month net earnings of EUR1.24 bln, up 7 percent from the same period in 2007.
Analysts were forecasting 9-month profit of EUR1.2 bln.
