European stock index futures pointed to sharp gains on Friday, as the market tracks a rally on Wall Street after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq touched fresh five-year lows that triggered a wave of bargain hunting.
At 0701 GMT, futures for the Euro Stoxx 50, Germany's DAX and the French CAC 40 were up between 3.9 and 4 percent.
European stocks inched lower on Thursday, ending at their lowest closing level in two weeks on lingering worries over the global economy and corporate profits.
