First issue of Cyprus euro collector coin Cyprus News

The Central Bank of Cyprus announced the issue of a silver collector coin, in proof condition, with a nominal value of EUR5 and year of issue 2008.
This is the first Cyprus collector coin in euro issue to commemorate the accession of Cyprus to the euro area in January this year. The coin depicts Cyprus connected with a ring to Europe, οn a transfigurated map. The design was prepared by Nicolas Loucas and the coins were minted by the Mint of Finland.
The issue is limited to 15.000 pieces.
The Central Bank of Cyprus will sell the coin to collectors from 11 to 25 November 2008.
The Bank reserves the right to terminate the selling period earlier, if the available quantities are sold out. In such a case an announcement in the local press and on the Bank’s website will be issued.
The price for sales over the counter has been set at EUR38 (CYP22,24) including VAT. Sales will be effected over the counter by the Central Bank of Cyprus (in cash) or through other banks in Cyprus.
