Panda Security has launched its 2009 range of antivirus solutions for the consumer sector including the Antivirus Pro 2009, Internet Security 2009 and Global Protection 2009.
The new range is based on Collective Intelligence, an innovative web 2.0 security model that generates protection from the “cloud”. The system utilises real time malware information acquired via user community and generates vaccines to neutralise malicious threats. The approach significantly reduces resource consumption and speeds up effective detection and disinfection rates, a company announcement said.
The products have been designed to make the most of web 2.0 technologies and pragmatically safeguard against unknown threats that infect users via typical day-to-day gateways such as emails or instant messaging applications. This incorporates proactive solutions to carry out on-demand scans from the cloud and protects users while surfing the web.
Panda Security’s Collective Intelligence works as an online, real-time database that stores the majority of signature files, keeping them at a minimum on the users’ PCs, the company said.
Every Panda user is a sensor for new malware, sending statistical data about malware prevalence back to the cloud. This new approach reduces bandwidth consumption on customers’ PCs and provides faster and more comprehensive up-to-date protection.
The “Identity Protect” technology detects any attempt to steal confidential data through a heuristic scanner. Among other solutions aimed at preventing theft of confidential data are a new engine for neutralizing banker trojans and a personal data filter to define and filter confidential information (account numbers, passwords, etc.) that should not leave the PC without the user’s consent.
Other key features include the TruPrevent 2.0 engine for behaviour-based malware detection utilised to counter attack vulnerability exploits. The new anti-spam engine included in Panda Internet Security 2009 and Panda Global Protection 2009 eliminates the vast majority of unwanted email.
The price of a license for up to 3 PCs over 12 months is GBP 30.99 (inc. VAT).
Panda Internet Security 2009 license for up to 3 PCs will be available for GBP 42.99, while Panda Global Protection 2009 license for up to 3 PCs is GBP 48.99.
