A total of 28 countries will be participating in the International Tennis Tournament “Aphrodite Cup”, to be hosted in Cyprus between 7-13 September.

According to a press release issued by the Cyprus Tennis Federation, “Aphrodite Cup” is an International Junior Tournament for players under 18, which has been established as an institution here and is in grade 4 of the International Federation.

The Tournament will take place in Limassol between 7 -13 September 2008 and it is expected to be a great success.

As the press release notes the participation interest from countries abroad has exceeded any previous year, adding that so far 28 countries, Cyprus included, have declared that they will be participating, with the number of athletes exceeding 100.

It is also noted that tennis players from Turkey would participate for the first time. (Turkey, whose troops occupy Cyprus’ northern areas has no diplomatic relations with Cyprus nor does it recognize its government).

The International Tennis Tournament is organised under the auspices of the Cyprus Sport Organisation.
