Cyprus retail trade still buoyant in April

The Cyprus retail sector remained buoyant in April, with the turnover volume index of retail trade increasing by 11.4% year on year according to provisional data for that month.
In March final data show an increase of 4.3% over March 2007.
For the period January-April 2008 the index is provisionally estimated to have an increase of 11,0% compared to the corresponding period of 2007.
All categories showed strong growth, with the exception of sales in second hand stores, of which there are very few in Cyprus.
The value of retail trade turnover rose by 8% in March and a provisional 15.1% year on year in April.
