Marfin Popular capital issue over-subscribed

Marfin Popular Bank Public Co Ltd announcd the 1.2x oversubscription of its public offering for the Capital Securities of 2008 (2nd tranche), which expired on June 27, 2008.
The applications that have been received amounted to EUR100.92 mln and exceed the sum of EUR83.84 mln that had been offered. The Capital Securities will be allocated to the applicants on a pro rata basis as soon as the minimum application sum (EUR1,000) is satisfied by all applicants.
Due to increased demand, the private placement of Capital Securities for 2008 (1st tranche) in April 2008 was extended to EUR116,159,000 from EUR100 mln that it was initially announced.
The Capital Securities will strengthen further the Hybrid Tire I Capital.
