Cyprus’ trade deficit hits EUR1.43 bln in Q1‘08

Cyprus’ trade deficit increased further during the first quarter of 2008 reaching 1.430,9 mln euro compared to 1.099,6 mln euro in January-March 2007, according to the statistical data released by the Statistical Service (CyStat).
Total imports/arrivals in Cyprus (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) in January-March 2008 amounted to 1.690,8 million euro as compared to 1.378,2 mln in January-March 2007, according to a monthly report published by the Statistical Service of Cyprus on “Intra-Extra E.U. Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for March 2008.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states) in January-March 2008 were 259.9 million euro compared to 278,6 mln euro in January-March 2007. The trade deficit was 1.430,9 mln euro in January-March 2008 compared to 1.099,6 mln euro in January-March 2007.
During March 2008 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) valued at €606,3mn.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states), including stores and provisions, in March 2008 amounted to 90,9 mln euro. Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods, including stores and provisions, were 46,8 mln euro whilst exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were 44,1 mln euro.
