Retail trade in Cyprus increases in January 2008

The Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade for the period January – February 2008 is estimated to have recorded an increase of 13,4% compared to the first two months of the previous year.

According to the latest data, released here today by the Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat), the Index in January 2008 decreased by 61.1 units or 32.0% to 129.9 units, compared to 191.0 in December 2007.

For the period January 2008, the Index recorded an increase of 12.4% compared to the corresponding period of 2007.

According to provisional estimates, the Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade for February 2008 decreased by 5.2 units or 4.0% to 124.7 units, compared to 129.9 in January 2008.

For the period January-February 2008, the Index is provisionally estimated to have an increase of 13.4% compared to the corresponding period of 2007.
