Iacovou-Nami to meet under UN auspices

Representatives of the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot communities will meet on Wednesday, under UN auspices, in a bid to press on with efforts to rekindle interest in a political settlement, which will reunite the country, divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion.
Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus’ Presidency George Iacovou and representative of the Turkish Cypriot leader Ozdil Nami will meet Wednesday in the presence of UN Secretary – General’s Special Representative in Cyprus, Michael Moller.
The meeting is expected to be a preparatory discussion in anticipation of a meeting later this month between the leaders of the two communities, Cypriot President Demetris Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat.
