Washington, (CNA) — Nicholas Burns, outgoing US Undersecretary of State, has indicated that a US high ranking official might visit Cyprus in the near future.

Burns had said in recent statements that he might be visiting Cyprus, but he retires from the US government next month.

Replying to a questions by CNA after a working lunch with Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyiannis, who is visiting Washington, Burns said that he will not be able to visit Cyprus after Sunday’s presidential elections.

”Maybe I will not manage to visit but someone else might,” he added.
