New publications in English about Cyprus

The Press and Information Office (PIO) of the Republic of Cyprus had issued two new publications in English.

The first publication, with the title ”The Republic of Cyprus: An Overview”, which was issued in late 2007, represents the latest updated version of this annual publication, which offers a brief overview of the Republic of Cyprus, including historical background, government structure, demographic trends as well as updates on political developments and the economy.

It also contains brief information useful to foreign investors, such as how to establish a business in Cyprus and a description of the country’s tax regime. In addition, this 152-pages-long paperback edition includes a list of the diplomatic, trade and tourism missions of Cyprus abroad and a useful chronology of developments over the last five years.

The second publication, with the title ”PIO Publications: Print & Electronic” is a handy catalogue, which includes publications prepared by the PIO staff and those done in cooperation with other organizations.

Entries in the catalogue include print (books, booklets and leaflets) and electronic (in CD and DVD format) productions. They aim to inform about Cyprus in general, and issues pertaining to the Cyprus problem in particular. The booklet provides a brief summary of the contents of each entry as well as practical information about the size, format and year of publication of each item and the languages in which each entry is available.
