Salvador Dali exhibition opens in Nicosia

An exhibition titled ”Salvador Dali: The Myth of Surrealism” opened on Wednesday in Nicosia.
The Minister of Education and Culture Akis Kleanthous has said the exhibition was an important cultural event, which will give the opportunity to the people of Cyprus to see masterpieces by Dali, who sealed the artistic creation of a whole era with the power of his inspiration and imagination.
Kleanthous said Dali’s talent in painting, sculpture, engraving and other forms of art is imprinted in his unique works, which have played a defining role in the course and evolution of contemporary art.

The Minister noted that children would have the opportunity to learn about Dali’s concerns, adding that the connection between culture and education is ”one of the most important aims” of the government’s strategic plan concerning culture.

This, he said, was the reason the Ministry had placed the exhibition under its auspices and is one of its sponsors.
