Construction materials prices up 5.3% in 2007

Copper pipe prices up 57.7%

 

The price index of construction materials rose by 5.34% in January-December 2007, according to the Statistical Service Cystat.

For December 2007 alone the index reached 141.79 (base year 2000=100.00), recording a marginal decrease of 0.04% over the previous month.

Cystat said that the rise of the index in 2007 was mainly owing to the price increase of the following materials.

Round bars of iron of EU origin, which rose by 13.5%

Crushed sand, which rose by 6.2%

Gravel and sand aggregate: 6.8%

Crushed gravel: 6.7%

Cement products: 6.0%

Copper pipes: 57.7%

Drain pipes: 7.6%

Sanitary ware: 6.6%

Bituminous mixtures (Bitumen Asphalt): 6.1%

Insulation materials: 6.2%

A 3.3% decrease in the price index was recorded in the case of plastic tubes.
