Epson has announced the Middle East launch of the A4 Epson Stylus Photo R290, a six-colour photo printer for those who are passionate about the quality of their photos. It features Claria Photographic Ink and the innovative printing technologies that make Epson the choice of professionals.

With the Stylus Photo R290, premium quality photos that look better than the lab are produced in just 27 seconds, a draft photo in just 12 seconds, and A4 documents at a speed of up to 37ppm. It will print directly onto CDs or DVDs, allowing users to personalise digital albums for gifts or storage.

Photos printed with Claria Photographic Ink will look better and last longer than those processed at a lab, up to 200 years when stored in an album or 98 years when displayed in a photo frame. It is a high-definition, six-colour, dye-based ink technology and is the ideal partner for the very latest digital-SLR or mega-pixel cameras, offering an extra wide colour gamut and smooth gradations for vivid prints with true-to-life colours.

The Micro Piezo print head in the Stylus Photo R290 is the same leading technology that is used in Epson professional photo printers. A new mechanism inside the print head optimises the way the ink is ejected through the printer nozzles resulting in faster print speeds, without any sacrifice in quality.

The Stylus Photo R290 features the latest in Epson’s Advanced Variable-sized Droplet-Technology (Advanced VSDT). With five different droplet sizes the printers can use the smallest droplet of 1.5pl for areas where fine colour gradation detail is required and bigger droplets where larger blocks of colour are needed. Advanced VSDT works in harmony with the Epson Micro Piezo print head to produce premium quality photos with smooth gradations and tonality.

With Epson PhotoEnhance technology, images featuring skin tones, landscapes and skylines are detected automatically and reproduced with enhanced colour settings to improve the overall tones and contrasts. It is particularly useful when the subject in the photo is darkened by shadow. A new night scene mode has also been included in the preset list to improve the sharpness of night time shots.

“With the market for high-end digital cameras growing steadily in the Middle East, consumers need a printer that can maximise the potential of their camera and deliver high-quality results. With its Claria  Photographic Ink, the Stylus Photo R290 ideally complements the latest D-SLR and mega-pixel cameras, and with individual ink cartridges it is also cost efficient, only the colour that is used needs to be replaced,” explained Khalil El Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East.
