Cyprus’ trade deficit expanded in first 10 months of 2007

Cyprus’ trade deficit expanded to 2.503,6 million Cyprus pound in January-October 2007, compared to 2.149,9 million in January-October 2006.

According to the latest data, released here today by the Statistical Service of Cyprus (CyStat), total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other EU member states) in January-October 2007 amounted to 3.040,4 million Cyprus pound compared to 2.687,8 million in January-October 2006.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states) in January-October 2007 were 536,8 mln compared to 537,9 mln CYP in January-October 2006. Trade deficit reached 2.503,6 mln in January-October 2007 compared to 2.149,9 mln in January-October 2006.

The monthly report “Intra-Extra EU Trade Statistics (Summarised Data)” for October 2007, published by CyStat, said that during October 2007 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other member states) were valued at 343,4 mln.

Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other member states), including stores and provisions, in October 2007 amounted to 57,8 mln. Exports/dispatches of domestically produced goods of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were 28,9 mln. Exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were also 28,9 mln.
