House President: permanent division of Cyprus spells disaster

House of Representatives President Demetris Christofias said Thursday that “the division is a disaster for the country and with it we will not only lose forever half of our motherland but we will mortgage the future of the other half.”

Addressing the 34th Pancyprian Federation of Students’ Union Congress, Christofias pointed out that in this difficult time of the Cyprus issue, when efforts are being made for the upgrading of the illegal Turkish Cypriot regime to a non recognized state, our answer must be militancy, solution on the basis of principles, flexibility and initiatives.

“We must persevere in a solution based on a bi-zonal, bi-communal Federation, the only feasible solution which can reunite our homeland and people,” he added.
