Georgia strikes ships off register for breaking Famagusta embargo

Georgia has expunged from its ship register the ships that were sailing the illegal route from the closed port of Famagusta in the Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus to the port of Latakia in Syria.

According to an official press release, ”after coordinated moves by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, GeorgIA expunged from its ship register the ships AKGUNLER 1 and SU, which were performing the illegal route from the closed port of Famagusta to the port of Latakia in Syria.”

”With a note verbale yesterday, the Embassy of Georgia informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the Shipping Department of Georgia informed the ship-owning companies that the two ships are expunged from the ship resister of the country due to the violation of international agreements and conventions,” it concludes.
