This project will improve the living environment of the Turkish Cypriot community through infrastructure and urban revitalization projects such as improvements to public areas, rehabilitation of village squares, provision of small scale water and sewerage infrastructure.

The celebration event will take place at the Bedestan site in the northern part of Nicosia on Wednesday 05 December 2007 at 13h.30 at the presence of Andrew Rasbash, Head of Unit of the European Commission – Task Force Turkish Cypriot community, Mrs Tiziana Zennaro UNDP-PFF Programme Manager and representatives of the Turkish Cypriot community.

This project is funded under the EUR259 million EU Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community, managed by the European Commission.

UNDP-PFF is implementing five projects for a total of EUR25 million on behalf of the European Commission under this Aid Programme (Phase I and Phase II of Upgrading of Urban and Local Infrastructure, Support to Private Sector Development, De-mining and Support to the Committee of Missing Persons Campaign). This increases the overall total of EU projects implemented by UNDP-PFF in the northern part of Cyprus since 2001 to over EUR51 million.
