Dubai eGovernment won the ‘Best eGovernment Programme in the Middle East’ award during the inaugural Middle East Business Achievement Awards (MEBA Awards) at the Leaders in Dubai Summit held recently.

The award is presented to a Middle East eGovernment department that has demonstrated excellence in the use of the internet, and communications and information technology to provide a comprehensive range of services to the general population and business community. The award, adjudicated by a jury panel comprised of internationally-recognised personalities, considered factors such as technological innovation, level of citizen participation, integration and efficiency, and user-friendliness of services.

“Dubai was among the first regional governments to respond to the need of introducing a robust electronic governance system, which leveraged the power of the internet and information technology to make available a host of electronic services to ease the lives of people in Dubai,” said Salem Al Shair, eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment.

Six years after its launch, Dubai eGovernment has played a pivotal role in accelerating Dubai’s transformation to a digital society, and in positioning Dubai as a pioneer in the knowledge economy.
