The European Commission is organising a workshop, in association with the Turkish Cypriot community, to design and develop a long-term training course in leadership skills for primary and secondary school principals. The workshop is taking place in Saray Hotel from 20 – 22 November 2007 with approximately 30 school principals and representatives from the education sector.

The training course on leadership and management skills for school principals will commence in summer 2008 and run for two years. It will form part of the four years Technical Assistance for primary and secondary education to be provided under the EU aid programme for the Turkish Cypriot community.

The EUR259 million EU aid programme for the Turkish Cypriot community is managed by the European Commission. EUR8 million have been allocated to the ongoing reform of the education sector with a view to enhance human resources development.
