Cypriot FM to attend EuroMed Cooperation meeting

Cypriot Minister of Foreign Affairs Erato Kozakou Markoullis will be flying to Portugal on November 4 to participate in the 9th meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the EuroMediterranean Cooperation, to be held in Lisbon on November 5 and 6.

According to an official press release, the EuroMediterranean Cooperation, which was established by the Barcelona Declaration in 1995, is the institutional framework of the Barcelona Process concerning political, economic, social and cultural cooperation between the 27 EU member states, as well as Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Morocco, Syria, Turkey, Tunisia and the Palestinian Authority.

The Lisbon Conclusions are the main document expected to be adopted by the annual meeting and have to do with the relations of Europe and the Mediterranean in the sectors of political, security, social, cultural, economic and financing cooperation.

The Ministers will also discuss the Middle East peace process.
