Anasia Angeli, a young Greek woman based in north London, has launched a website that will aim to bring all the traditional recipes and dishes of Cyprus and Greece in a video based format, according to a London Greek News report.

“I am bringing to the younger generation recipes learnt from my mother in a format that is easy to follow and to duplicate at home”, said Angeli, a bank manager based in East Finchley.

Following the success of the television series presented by Tonia Buxton on Sky TV, Anasia will try to bring authentic Greek dishes to the gastronomic world that will fuse the developments of Greek food but retain its traditional base. There has been strong interest in Greek cuisine given the numbers of tourists visiting Greece and Cyprus from the UK and the number of Cypriots and Greeks living in the U.K., an estimated 300,000.

The website, www.desperateGreekhousewives.co.uk, follows in the steps of the television success of the Desperate Housewives programme starring Teri Hatcher where housewives would bring round dishes to friends homes. “I also chose the name as the site is meant to allow people to learn to cook Greek and practice new recipes”, said Anasia Angeli.
