The undecided voters have taken the lead in the forthcoming Cyprus Presidential elections to be held February 2008 with a 27% share, well ahead of the three presidential hopefuls according to a poll carried out by the Cyprus Center for European and International Affairs of the University of Nicosia.

The undecided have 27% of the vote, compared to 23.9% for incumbent President Tassos Papadopoulos seeking a second term, and with centre-right candidate Ioannis Cassoulides at 20.9% and communist AKEL candidate Demetris Christophias with 20.7% of the poll. The percentage of voters who said they will cast blank was 7.1%.

If the share of undecided voters is ignored, then Papadopoulos sees his share climb to 32.74%, Cassoulides at 28.6% and Christofias at 28.4%, while the blank votes increase to 9.8%.

President Papadopoulos has maintained a steady lead in the polls with his support placed between 34.4% till 43.8% according to the various recent polls. If the presidential hopefuls fail to garner 50% plus one vote, then elections will be held the second Sunday between the two highest candidates.
