Cypriots head for UK, Russia

Cypriot residents headed for the UK and Russia in June, according to the latest results of the monthly Passengers’ Survey.

According to the survey, 85,539 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in June 2007 compared with 83,343 in the corresponding month last year, recording an increase of 2.6%.

In June 2007 there was an increase of 67.6% in trips by residents to the United Kingdom (from 13,376 in June 2006 to 22,419 in June 2007).

There was an even higher increase, of 85.7%, of trips by residents to Russia (from 2,697 to 5,009 this year).

Conversely, a decrease of 19.8% was reported in the numbers of residents returning from Greece (29,692 in June 2007 compared with 37,013 in June 2006).
