Cyprus Business Association elects new president

The Cyprus International Business Association (CIBA), the umbrella group for international-activity companies based on the island, elected Bernt Gienskey as its new president at its annual general meeting held recently in Limassol.

Outgoing president Chris Koufaris had announced that after five years of service as the helm of CIBA, which he had thoroughly enjoyed, he wanted to step down and hand over the chair to a new president, who takes over for three years.

Gienskey is a German national living in Cyprus since 1978 and married for 26 years to Zena. He graduated as a Master Mariner at the Nautical College in Hamburg and has been active in the shipping industry throughout his career. Since September 2003 he is the Managing Director of IC Shipmanagement in Limassol and has been a member of the CIBA executive committee since January 2006.

Following the re-election of the rest of the executive committee, Ronny Verhoeven (Belorient Food Products), and Philippos Antoniades (Chemikalien Seetransport Cyprus) were elected as vice presidents of CIBA.

The other members of the executive committee are Chris Koufaris (Kardex Systems) – Past President, Mehran Eftekhar (Nest Investments Holdings) – Past President , Alexei Kondratiev (Association of Russian Businessmen in Cyprus) , Andreas Andreou (Columbia Shipmanagement), Marios Anastasiou (Federal Bank of the Middle-East) , Peter Huxley (Barclays Bank CIBU) and Spyros Christodoulides (Amdocs Development).
