Head of The Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria, Pope Shenouda, will visit Cyprus in November to participate in a meeting of the Council of Middle East Churches.

Press Director of the Cypriot Holy Archbishopric, Andreas Demetriou, has said that the meeting will take place end of November, in the western town of Paphos.

Demetriou, who is accompanying Cypriot Archbishop Chrysostomos II on his visit to Egypt, said that the Head of the Cypriot Church expressed the belief that Pope Shenouda’s visit would contribute to the enhancement of relations between the Cypriot Greek Orthodox and the Coptic Orthodox Churches.

Yesterday, Archbishop Chrysostomos II visited the Saint Mark the Evangelist’s Church of the Coptic Church of Alexandria, where he was warmly welcomed by thousands of people.

Later today Archbishop Chrysostmos II will meet with President of Egypt Hosni Mubarak.

The Cypriot Archbishop returns home tomorrow evening.
